I encourage new students to not be afraid to explore material choices when building their language in visual arts. In the studio, Intermediate level students explore a wide range of painting techniques, methods, and applications ranging from representational art to abstraction. Advanced students will finish the program by working under a specific theme and create a cohesive body of work for their portfolio review day.
In this gallery, there are examples of student's work from the foundation level drawing classes. As a drawing instructor, I design my classes around demonstration, lecture, individual development and critique format. As a foundation, students are encouraged to pursue a strong perceptual, technical, and critical skills in their artistic practice.
This gallery holds a body of work from Art 101- Intro to painting students. In this introductory class students are encouraged to explore a variety of oil painting techniques and methods. Students will successfully implement formal elements of art such as color, value and form, into a two-dimensional composition format focusing in quality of paint.
